Michael Auther Stanworth

November 27, 1943 — February 15, 2025

Michael Arthur Stanworth, more commonly known as “Mike”, age 81, passed away February 15, 2025 in the comfort of his home. He was born November 27, 1943 in Delta, Utah to George Washington Stanworth and Ethel Maxfield Stanworth. He married Jane Nelson on June 18th, 1966 in Delta, Utah.

Mike loved school and spent many years “studying” and enjoying college life where he attended SUU, Weber State, and USU to study business and agriculture. He always stressed to the grandkids about how important college was. Although he liked to joke about the social aspects of his college experience, he successfully applied his knowledge to run several businesses alongside his sons. He loved operating equipment (Bulldog Construction) which he did throughout his life clear up into his 80s. His favorite being the dozer followed closely behind by the tractors on the farm (T&S Farms). Mike also enjoyed driving the semi’s for their trucking business and hauling feed for their grain business (Mike Stanworth & Sons and Big Five Commodities). His favorite job was working for the 4L Ranch in his younger years where he got to farm without the stress of running your own business.

He loved riding dirt bikes and spent countless hours riding with the Sugar Loafers Motorcycle Club, riding around in their jeeps, and taking his boys to races. In his later years, he traded the motorcycle club life for the coffee club where he enjoyed talking with friends. He enjoyed talking about farming, the town news (that was always true…), and lots of jokes where he preferred to dish out the jokes but rather not be on the receiving end of them. He was also known to put on some miles driving around town looking at people's farms while chewing his imaginary thumb that he lost in a farming accident. His typical conclusion was that everyone else's farm looked better than his which usually upset his boys.

Mike wouldn't admit it, but he was a proud son, sibling, husband, father, grandfather, farmer, and businessman. He was humble, but kind of proud, however, a walk through his home or simple conversation over coffee was enough to know how much he loved his family and the honest work he did.

We hope there’s ALOT of tractor work for him in Heaven & that the tractors run smoothly, with endless tilling up rows of heavenly soil without any downtime for breakdowns, oil changes, or greasing. We will miss him, especially Shane, when Mike would park his truck (usually right in the way) next to the tractor while we got it ready for him.

He is preceded in death by his wife; Jane Stanworth, his daughter; Michelle Rogers, his parents; George and Ethel and his siblings; Conard, Ward, Lyle, Max, Joyce and Pat. He is survived by his two sons Shane; T.J. (Christina); and grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Rhett), Paige, Kailey, Meghan, Michael, and Kason.
