Leora Carling Allen

Our loving mother, and grandmother Leora Carling Allen passed away May 12, 2015 in her home in Fillmore at the age of 102. She was born St Patrick's Day, March 17, 1913 to Merrit Augustus Carling and Julia Vilate Warner. She married Rial Aaron Allen on July 5, 1934 in the Manti Temple.

She was raised in Fillmore & attended grade school in the Little Rock School House. She graduated from Millard High School. Leora was a loving, stay at home mother for her children. The family lived in Flowell, Fillmore, Salt Lake, Provo, & Spanish Fork. She was an excellent seamstress & sewed clothes for her daughters. She was an immaculate house keeper & excellent cook. No one ever left her home hungry. We all loved her carrots, rolls, carrot pudding, & chocolate cake. It was not a meal to her without a cake. She gardened & was always bottling fruits & vedgetables. She took care of her large yard on her own until she was nearly 80. She enjoyed working in the Primary. After her children were raised she did go to work at the Spanish Fork High School as a lunch lady from 1963 to 1976.

She is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy (Paul) Hurst, Virginia (Edward) Larsen, & son James Allen, 16 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, & 14 great, great grandchildren, & brother Fred Carling. Preceded in death by her husband Rial, & infant son Duane, son in law Paul Hurst, grandson Craig Higginson, brothers, Claude & Grover Carling.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 16, 2015 in the Fillmore 2nd ward chapel located at 25 S 300 W at 1 pm. Viewing will be 1 hour prior to the service.
