Ivie Olsen Peterson

Ivie Olsen Peterson passed from this life the evening of March 29, 2021 in Delta, Utah, at the age of 95. She was born on August 11, 1925, to Grantly Lamar and Vivian Ivie Olsen in Scipio, Utah.

She met Carl Reuben Peterson when they were attending Millard High School in Fillmore, Utah. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple August 11, 1943, the day she turned eighteen. They enjoyed a wonderful, productive life together, happily involved in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and raising their two sons. The most important focus in her life was always her family.  She became a licensed beautician in 1967 and worked for 25 years at Ivy’s Beauty Salon in Pacific Grove, CA. Her hands were never idle. She was always busy serving others by making quilts or hotpads, fixing meals, or doing people’s hair. Her favorite hobbies were quilting and crocheting. She loved nature and noticed and could identify every tree and flower.  After Carl and Ivie retired in 1993, they left Seaside, CA, and moved back to Fillmore to be close to family. 

Her brother (Jay) and sister (Wilma) preceded her in death. Ivie is survived by her two sons, Nyles Grant Peterson (Barbara) and Carl Todd Peterson (Lynette), 10 grandchildren, and 25 great grandchildren. Ivie is cherished by all her family. 

Ivie's family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Millard Care and Rehabilitation in Delta, Utah, for the loving care given to our mother during her final years.

A viewing for family and friends will be held Saturday, April 10, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Olpin Stevens Funeral Home in Fillmore, Utah. It will be followed by an 11:00 a.m. graveside service at the Fillmore Cemetery.
