Gary Floyd Greener

December 17, 1945 — April 2, 2025

Hinckley

Gary F. Greener was born in Delta, UT. He passed away peacefully in Hinckley, UT surrounded by loved ones. He was born to Floyd and Tamson (McCullough) Greener. He was the second of three children. Gary and his sister were discussing the birth of the third child and he said, ‘We don’t want no more gowols!’

Gary was raised in Hinckley and graduated from Delta High School. He attended Utah State University and worked as a driller for Longyear and as a maintenance mechanic for IPSC. Gary married the love of his life Diane Watson August 5, 1972.

Many people referred to him simply as Greener, but his grandchildren affectionately called him ‘Papa Smurf’ because of his beard. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. When his grandchildren came to visit, he spoiled them with doughnuts for breakfast and pizza for dinner (even though it usually took too long to bring back because he was talking to the people making it).

Gary is survived by his wife, Diane Watson Greener of Hinckley, UT, his children Lance (Becka) Greener of Orem, UT, Nikki (Jeff) McDermaid of Delta, UT, Taryn (Sean) Goeckeritz of Ogden, UT, and Grey (Amanda) Greener of Ogden, UT. He had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dee Greener, his daughter DeeDe Jo Greener, and his granddaughter Paige McDermaid.

Private family services were held April, 5, 2025.
