Elma T Wade

June 27, 1918 — June 5, 2016

Fillmore, Utah – Elma T. Wade, 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 5, 2016, at her home. She was born June 27, 1918, in Holden, Utah, to Arnold Sidney Teeples and Chloe McKee Teeples. She was the oldest of five children. She married Samuel Frame Wade on January 6, 1938, in Nephi, Utah, and later solemnized in the Manti Temple on February 11, 1954.

She was born in Holden and lived all her married life in Fillmore. She worked side-by-side her loving husband milking cows, gardening, and driving a team of horses while cutting hay. She started working in the laundry department at Fillmore Hospital in 1953. Two years later she became one of the most loving and compassionate Nurses’ Aide. She and Samuel were blessed with three girls and three boys that filled their home with love and laughter. Sadly, the love of her life passed at a young age and left her as a single mother for 46 years.

Elma continued the tradition of hard work by dedicating her life to serving others. One of her greatest joys was cooking and baking treats for her neighbors and friends.  She also enjoyed embroidery, quilting, baking, wallpapering, bowling, walking with friends, and attending any of her grandchildren’s sporting events. Elma traveled around competing in a bowling league where she was awarded ‘Bowler of the Year” and developed close friendships; she bowled until she was 93 years old.

Elma’s home was one where all the kids and grandkids would come to hang out; her door was always open to friends, neighbors, and anyone who needed a word of encouragement. She was loved by so many and will be missed. She is survived by her two siblings Venez Johnson and Darrel Teeples. Also her children Farrell (Kay) Wade, Sharon (Ken) Bishop, Richard (Kady) Wade, JoAnn (John) Larsen, Annette (Monte) Wadsworth; 23 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, her son Dan J. Wade, her grandson Jeff Wade, her daughter-in-law Sandy Wade, her parents, her brother Garth Teeples, and her sister Wanda Wells.
