Colleen Adams Paxton, age 93, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at her home in Salt Lake City, UT. Her son Gail Paxton and daughter Charlene Wilkinson were by her side when she passed. She was born on November 13, 1926 in Meadow, UT to Hyrum Vincent Adams and Amy Bushnell Adams. She married Henry Anthony Paxton on August 2, 1945 in Kanosh. Henry passed away just 43 days before Colleen.
She graduated from South High in Salt Lake City and worked at Hill Field until the end of WWII. She moved to Kanosh when Henry returned from the Navy where their two children were born. In her mid-twenties they moved to Salt Lake City where they would spend the rest of their lives. She was totally devoted to her family and they couldn’t have had a more loving wife and mother. Her life exemplified the kind of love, sacrifice and faithfulness we were all sent to earth to learn. Her passing will leave a void in so many hearts but the rejoicing at her arrival on the other side of the veil must be amazing.
She loved to cook, have friends and family drop by, play cards and follow the Utah Jazz basketball team. She knew every starter on every NBA team, their coach and who needed to be traded or fired. Everyone close to her was so impressed with her knowledge of this sport.
She is survived by her daughter Charlene (Sam – deceased) Wilkinson of Salt Lake City, UT, son Gail (Lois) Paxton of Spanish Fork, UT, 10 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
