Christopher Thomas Lunt of Salt Lake City Utah passed away January 28, 2023 doing what he loved most, adventuring with his friends.
Chris was born December 9, 1993, in Salt Lake City Utah to Ellen Gay Gertsch Lunt and Robert Petty Lunt. He was raised in Farmington Utah where he began his life adventure. Growing up Chris developed a love for scouting and was very active in his local scout troop. Chris earned his Eagle Scout before reaching his 14th birthday. Then continuing to learn and develop his scouting skills through the Wood Badge program.
Chris attended Viewmont High School where he represented his school in the Future Business Leaders of America State competition, he also received the Viewmont Viking Service Award given only to 1 of 350 students. As a member of the Swim Team, he was able to further indulge in his passion for anything water related.
After graduating high school, Chris attended Southern Utah University for a year before leaving to serve an LDS Mission in the California Riverside Mission, where he could do what he loved the most, being in the service of others and sharing the gospel. After completing his mission, Chris returned to SUU where he earned a Bachelor of Science Management and developed a more in depth and personal interaction with politics and his love for America. While attending school in Cedar City, Chris fell in love with the beauty and adventures that Southern Utah provides, spending his free time exploring, scuba diving, 4-wheeling, snowboarding and other adventures with his friends. This is also where he met the future love of his life Hayley Pendleton. Immediately, they had a strong connection and knew their relationship would last for an eternity. Chris and Hayley spent their time together, talking and laughing, hiking, driving his side-by-side, watching movies, eating food, getting sunburned while swimming, doing puzzles and constantly competing against each other to beat world records.
Chris proposed to Hayley on December 3, 2022 in Memory Grove Park in Salt Lake City, and planned to be married at the Cedar City Temple May 27, 2023. Chris and Hayley will always be connected through the adventures they created together.
When Chris was not adventuring outdoors, he would spend time with his IT Business, photography, and videography ventures. Chris enjoyed traveling all over the world and especially loved his time at Lake Powell, he was always on the cutting edge of technology having the newest toys and gadgets. But the thing he enjoyed most was his time spent in service to friends, community, his political party, and church. His selfless nature inspired others and helped them to reach their full potential as they followed his example of kindness, patience, compassion and consideration for others.
Preceded in death by his mother Ellen Gay Gertsch Lunt, Christopher is survived by his father Robert Petty Lunt, siblings Stephen (Heidi) Lunt, Daniel (Audrey) Lunt, Laura (Neil Bowker) Lunt and his fiancé Hayley Pendleton.
